National Government Services, Jurisdiction K

Medicare Part A and Part B for a Massachusetts practice go to National Government Services, Jurisdiction K, with the rest of New England and New York. New York Medicaid still goes to eMedNY, not to MassHealth.

PIP and workers' compensation

Massachusetts is a no-fault state. Personal injury protection is billed to the auto insurer. A work injury is billed to the employer's carrier under the Department of Industrial Accidents. Neither one replaces a MassHealth claim.

A Massachusetts schedule needs the product named before coding is released. MassHealth plan, fee-for-service MassHealth, Medicare through National Government Services, and a PIP insurer do not share a timely-filing rule. The current payer manual is the one that is followed.
