Reviewing a billing agreement

How an engagement works

The monthly billing agreement is month to month. The fee is a percentage of net collections, the dollars that land, not a percentage of gross charges. There is no setup fee on the monthly cycle. The written rate follows a look at volume, specialty, and how much of the cycle you hand over.

The work

Billers log into the practice management system the practice already uses. The cycle covers eligibility, charge entry, ICD-10 / CPT / HCPCS coding, claim scrubbing, clearinghouse submission, payment posting, denial follow-up, and accounts receivable. A business associate agreement is signed for every account.

Quoted on their own

Credentialing, a retrospective coding audit, MIPS reporting, transcription, and out-of-network or IDR work are separate engagements. They are not folded into the monthly billing percentage.
